a lifelong passion

About the Game Master

I am Aaron Braegen and storytelling and fiction has been a lifelong passion of mine, beginning with Tolkien and, I dearly hope, having no end at all. I have been playing tabletop RPGs for 25 years and Game Mastering for more than 20 and I firmly believe that it is one of the most transformative, personal and rewarding forms of art.

My goal, in every session and across every campaign, is to ensure that everyone is having fun in a safe and comfortable way. I do that with a focus on empathy, listening and open communication with all my players.

The real strength and joy of tabletop roleplaying is the collaborative process. I may play the antagonists in the game, but I am not the player's antagonist; I work with each player to challenge you and your character, for it is in conflict that drama is found and change is born.

Everybody, no matter their temperament or challenges, can tell a story and I promise you it is never more fun to tell a story than it is with friends.

Step 1: We begin by talking all together to decide which game to play and some very basic ideas about what each of us want from the campaign.

Step 2: Session Zero is a preparatory meeting held before the start of a tabletop RPG campaign. Its primary purpose is to set expectations, establish the tone, and ensure that all players are on the same page.

During this session, myself as Game Master (GM) and the players collaboratively discuss and agree upon key aspects of the game, such as:

This Session Zero is FREE.

Step 3: Payment for the first 3 sessions is collected. This is because I will be creating the bones of a whole story, including a dramatic finale for the players to drive towards.

Step 4: We play!
Whether in person, online or a mixture depending on schedules and health. In person games are hosted by myself, one of the players or commonly a rotation between each. There are options to rent a room with added cost.
Each session is 3hrs long, with a little lead in time for people to get settled.

I am contactable to discuss the game with players outside of the sessions to support you and make sure you are having the most rewarding experience possible.

If you wish to play and cannot find enough people to make the minimum of 4, please contact me! I can assist you with finding enough like-minded and fun people to play with.

Single session / Events

4-6 players (more can be accommodated with discussion)
$250+ (depending on how much extra prep work of play time requested)

Step 1: I will discuss the particulars of the game with the organiser and as many players as they wish to include. Particulars include but not limited to:

I may need to consider these details before providing you with a quote for the event game.

Step 2: Receive my quote, approve it and pay the full amount.

Step 3: I turn up at the address and tell a story you'll never forget!

Teaching session

4-6 players
$25/person

These are pre-made stories designed to teach people the basics of a game system and how to play a tabletop roleplaying game. The sessions are 3 hours long, though there is a little less content to allow for time to explain the mechanics and show how they work within the story.

Many game systems are supported, please contact me to discuss.
